For students

Are you a student interested in earning credit for active participation in BEMC Talks and Jclubs?

It is possible for doctoral students to collect ECTS within the “Promotionsumgebung” of the Charité* for active participation in BEMC Talks, BEMC JClub or both. Please note that the BEMC does not offer CME credits.

BEMC Talks: To earn 2.5 ECTS, students must attend at least 7 BEMC Talks within one year (be sure to register in advance). You can start your BEMC Talk “year” at any point (e.g. June through May). To earn the credits, you will need to submit a 250-word summary of the key points from these BEMC Talks using the BEMC Talk Summary Form (see the form for specifics). Important note:  Collecting partial ECTS points for individual talks is not possible. Once you have completed 1 year of active participation (i.e. submitted summaries for at least 7 BEMC Talks), you may claim your 2.5 ECTS by emailing us at bemcolloquium >at< charite.de with the subject line “BEMC Talks Credits”. In this email, please provide a tabular list of the dates, titles, and speaker names for all the BEMC Talks you attended. Be sure to plan ahead and allow for at least 2 weeks processing time for your certificate to be issued.

BEMC JClub: To earn 3.5 ECTS, students must attend and actively participate in at least 7 BEMC JClub meetings within one year (be sure to register in advance). Students should submit at least 2-3 thoughtful questions before noon on the day of each meeting using BEMC Journal Club Contribution Form (see the form for details). Your BEMC JClub “year” may start at any time (e.g. June through May).

Important note:  Collecting partial ECTS points for individual JClub meetings is not possible. Once you have completed 1 year of active JClub participation according to these specifications, you may claim your 3.5 ECTS by emailing us at bemcolloquium >at< charite.de with the subject line “BEMC JClub Credits”. In this email, please provide a tabular list of the dates and the article titles for all BEMC JClub meetings you attended. Please plan ahead and allow for at least 2 weeks processing time for your certificate to be issued.

*Notes: (1) We are happy to issue you participation certificates for multiple years of active participation; however, we cannot guarantee that your PhD program will offer you credit for multiple years of participation. Please check this with them ahead of time. (2) Doctoral students of other universities should consult their own university policies to determine whether active BEMC Talk or JClub participation (as described above) may count for credit.
